6. Please tell us about ‘Petflair’ Campaign?
Petflair was a Kickstarter campaign which launched with a target to raise $15k in a period of one month.  We launched this campaign as a way to raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption as well as celebrate the wonderful companionship with our pets.  In a matter of four days, we had reached our target of $15k and the campaign had gone viral online, reaching media outlets like; Mashable, USA Today to name a few. We raised a total of $108k, with 25% of profits getting donated to Pound Paws.

7. How many campaigns do you run for animals?
Pound Paws hosts many online campaigns as a way to help raise awareness about pet adoption. A recent campaign which we helped source rescue groups for, was the Airbnb Social Impact Experience Campaign, where rescue groups had the opportunity to host their own experience at their shelter, for the public to participate in. 100% of funds was donated directly to the shelter. You can see an example of one particular Social Impact, hosting by Australian Working Dog Rescue here.

8. Being an animal advocate, what do you have to say about animal rights?
All animals have the ability to suffer in the same way and to the same degree that humans do. Anyone that denies this, is just refusing to address it. We need to speak out for those who can’t. Animals can teach us so much, their ability to love unconditionally and always be loyal, is something I think we can all agree, that humans suffer at.

9. What habits or measures can be taken by people to save animals?
Always choose to adopt instead of shop when it comes to getting your next pet!  Also, never underestimate the power of sharing / tagging friends in images of pets available for adoption – majority of our rehome cases happen on social media!

10. Why do people shop instead of adopting animals?
I think people believe it is easier to just go directly to a Breeder or search for ‘French Bulldog’ on Gumtree.  That is why I launched Pound Paws as it fast tracks the process of finding your pet, by allowing you to search for particular fields like; age, size, breed, location and lifestyle match on our online search engine.
