As a strong advocate for LGBTQ youth, Avery has promoted the Trevor Project on her platforms on several occasions. She has also recently teamed up with Space Hero to train like an astronaut and show that space can be accessible for all. Although space travel seems light years away, Avery is hopeful to one day find a safe way to space or even Mars! Read on in her interview with Jejune to hear more about Avery’s platform and future projects!

Where are you based?
I’m based in palm beach Florida!

How did you get interested in creating content on TikTok and YouTube?
It started as a competition between my friend and me, to see who could get 1000 likes first. You might have guessed, but I ended up winning that competition on my very first video. I kept making videos, and haven’t stopped since!

As a digital creator, and not one to follow trends, how do you plan your personal and meaningful content?
Basically I just find ways to record things I was already going to make. For example, I wasn’t even going to record my baby skateboard video because it was just an experiment, I figured why not and now it’s my most liked and viewed video!

What are the challenges that come with being one of the top Hispanic LGBTQ creators on social media? How do you stay positive?
Hate comments and trolls are inevitable, especially on a platform like TikTok. I think I have a really good sense of self and I’m usually pretty good about not letting them get to me.

Your TikTok showcases your travels, your adventures with your girlfriend, and your DIY creations. What are your favorite types of videos to make?
My favorite videos by far are my DIY videos. I’m naturally very crafty and curious, and would do most of the DIY crafting I film regardless if I had a TikTok or not.

You are quite the DIYer. Do you have a favorite thing you have made?
The skateboard series where I encapsulate objects into resin and turn them into skateboards. It's super cool because you can basically put anything that fits inside of your resin skateboard!

You and your girlfriend are so adorable! How did you meet? Were you both creating content before you met? Do you inspire each other?
Aw thank you! We actually met at playlist live back in 2020 and yes we do inspire each other a lot! We are constantly bouncing ideas off of each other!

Jejune loves that you recently partnered with TikTok to donate $10,000 to the Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization that provides 24/7 crisis support services to LGBTQ young people. How did you get involved in this partnership?
They actually reached out to me and asked if I would be Interested in making a TikTok video for a non profit of my choice and that they would donate 10,000 to the nonprofit I made the video about. Of course I said yes!

Can you tell us a bit about the Trevor Project and why it is so important? How can LGBTQ youth access the resources provided by The Trevor Project?
The Trevor project is focused on suicide prevention amongst people in the LGBTQ+ community. One of their main features is the Trevor hotline, at any time you can reach out via call, text, or chat through their website to speak to a trained counselor. I think this is super important because people within the LGBTQ+ community often times don’t have somebody to talk to about what they are going through. To access these services all you have to do is go to their website!

How are the donations made? What can our readers do to help?
Donations can be made through their website, but if you can’t donate, spreading the word can be just as effective!

Do you have any advice for LGBTQ youth struggling with their sexuality?
I’d say If you are struggling with your sexuality don’t feel pressured into labeling yourself or feeling like there needs to be a definite answer.

We also heard that you are partnering with Space Hero to train like an astronaut and show that space can be accessible for all. This is a crazy opportunity. What are you most excited for?
Yes! I’m so so excited to get to go on a zero gravity flight!

Have you always been interested in space travel?
To be honest I’ve never really thought much about it, but it works out because space hero’s mission is to help younger people become interested in space because it’s going to become our reality in the near future!

If you were given the opportunity to go to Mars one day, would you take it?
Yeah I think I would, but would want to make sure it was super safe lol.

How are you staying positive during the current wave of the pandemic? Are you almost back to normal?
Trying to find the balance of having fun and living life while still being safe has gotten a bit easier since the beginning of the pandemic, I don’t think I’m fully back to normal yet though.

Do you have any future projects that you would like to share with Jejune?
Stay tuned by following me on social media!

What is your life motto?
Whatever happens, happens. If you can’t change it, move on. A lot of people think it sounds harsh, but I think it’s a great motto to live by.
