No Bees Were Harmed/Used In The Making Of Bee Waxed Cosmetics

Meet the all natural, vegan, 100% organic beauty company, Bee Waxed. This family owned business is focused on giving users a clean option for their skin care before and after hair removal. Waxed is in the name because these sisters offer many spa services, which includes waxing. To learn more, please read our exclusive interview below.

Can you please tell me where you are based?
We have two store locations in Pontiac and Livonia, Michigan.

When was Bee Waxed Cosmetics founded?
Bee Waxed Cosmetics was originally founded in 1986, as I Natural Cosmetics by our parents. Once my sister and I took over the company in 1997, we chose to reinvent the brand and created Bee Waxed Cosmetics.

You don’t actually use bees in any of your products; so, can you please tell us how you got your name?
Bee Waxed Cosmetics is not about bees, it is about being. It was originally an invitation to anyone that wanted to ‘be waxed’. Our skincare came later under the same concept. We want you to “bee” who and what you want your skin to be!

Why is it important for you to be vegan and cruelty free?
We are a values-based lifestyle brand. It resonates in who we are and those who follow us. That’s also why we are beeswax free. We have not, and will not, test on animals, and everything is certified vegan so that our consumers can just relax and ‘bee waxed’!

If you are not using beeswax, what is your base for many of your cosmetics?
The base of our products are composed of botanical extracts, essential oils, fruits and vegetables.

Why do you think it is important to be organic and 100% natural?
We believe that both what you put on and in your body should be safe and healthy. Past products we would use had different toxins and chemicals in them that were hurting our skin more than helping it. We saw a need in the market for organic, natural products that actually work, and we went for it!

It looks like you have a lot of solutions to the results of waxing or shaving. I’m surprised you don’t have any natural waxing options for the home user. Do you plan to make some of those?
We may look into it in the near future.

Is your Trio Kit essential after a wax?
Definitely! The Trio Kit was designed specifically for use after hair removal treatment. Each of the three products specialize in reducing any side effects of the removal, from ingrown hairs to itchiness and redness. Using the three together make for the ultimate post-treatment.

Your spa offers many services. Are all of them organic, vegan, cruelty free, and all natural?
Yes, as those are our core values throughout the company, all products and services offered are natural!

We see that you offer makeup services as well. Do you only work with vegan cruelty free organic brands? If so, what are some of your favorites?
We do have organic makeup. We are in the process of creating our own brand right now. Goop is a company we recommend and admire.

What is your favorite Bee Waxed Cosmetics product, and why?
My favorites are: Bee Sugared, for its hydrating qualities as well as exfoliation. Our Bee Clear is a wonderful anti-aging serum as well as a pimple clearer. And lastly, our Bee Calm serum made up of 15% Arnica that reduces redness, inflammation, dark circles and hydrates.
