We’re based in the Chicago area.

When was Full Unicorn founded?
Full Unicorn was founded in October of 2017, fueled by a moment of activist alchemy.

Love your name. Can you tell us a little bit about its origin?
In a weekly conversation with a group of other boss ladies, we were talking about showing up fully as ourselves. I told the group I wanted to “Go Full Unicorn”. We laughed, but it really became a mantra. It reminded me to take the leap, have all the fun, and be totally OK with being seen.

What made you decide to create Full Unicorn?
I was tired of playing it safe and thinking about what a beauty brand “should” look like. I wanted to bring some levity where things felt heavy. I had to fight for the fun factor. I mean, we added glitter and had the word unicorn in the name when life was all about minimal + pink.

Full Unicorn is the line of my dreams. It’s a simplified skin care ritual that packs a big punch.

Most important question, are unicorns real?
Um, yeah, unicorns are totally real. And, this just in, we are ALL unicorns! Unicorns are magic and that magic lives in that part of us that holds all the power. We have to dig deep, be vulnerable and take some risk to reveal it, but our radiance cannot be denied. We call that going Full Unicorn. And, that’s a #FUmoment.

You say Full Unicorn is naturally assertive skin care. Can you please explain what that means? And why it is so important?
Assertive skin care starts with natural ingredients. Assertive ingredients are powerful and effective, but not harsh. FU ingredients are never watered down, because you can’t go half unicorn. A half unicorn is just an ass!

If your products are all vegan and cruelty free, does that mean no unicorns were used in the making of your cosmetics?
Absolutely no animals, real or mythical, are used in our skin care. We’re not jerks.

If no unicorns were used in the making of Full Unicorn, where do your products get their magic from?
Actually, we view our job as unlocking the magic. You are the unicorn. We reveal your radiance with super-powered natural ingredients, like Sea Buckthorn Oil, Turmeric Oil, Activated Charcoal, and botanical Hyaluronic Acid. We bring the plant + crystal magic to the party. You make it glow.

Another part of the magic comes from the multi-purpose formulations that allow our 3-step ritual to replace a 10 step regime in order to best serve your skin. Unicorns don’t have time for that shit.

We love how shimmery your Gemstone resurfacing treatment is. How do you get that affect?
The micro-crystals + mica add a boost of natural radiance for your shimmery crystal mask moment. In the original formulation, we actually used cosmetic grade glitter in Gemstone. In my own #FUmoment, I realized that we could do better. And, since Mother Nature always has the answer, we evolved and upgraded to the natural glittery gold goodness in mica.

Why was it important to you to use all natural ingredients?
First off, your skin absorbs 60% of what is applied, so why not use the best non-toxic options available? Second, there is nothing we can artificially replicate in a lab that nature hasn’t already perfected over thousands of years.
