Television Skies is a New York based duo with a rebellious spirit and unwavering authenticity. Their newly released single, Time of My Life, speaks to facing the unknown and might just be able to help you feel a little less alone during this time where we’re facing a lot of uncertainty. Teasing their upcoming album in this interview, they share a few songs we can expect to make it onto the track list. In response to the recent LA fires, Television Skies stresses the importance of supporting each other in times of need no matter the distance by playing shows to raise money for those affected by the fires. To show their support for struggling artists, they also partner with Sweet Relief and Letters Relief Charity, organizations dedicated to turning community support directly into real help for musicians. Where are you based?
We're based in Queens, NY. I live in Rego park and while most of our shows happen in Manhattan venues, queens has this unique energy that shapes our sound. It's a different perspective on the city, you know?
What inspired you to come together and start making music?
Paul and I met back in 2012 playing in another band. We connected over classic rock records and just understanding music the same way. by 2016, We started television skies because we needed to keep creating together. Started out simple — just two guys in a basement making the music we needed to make. our sound's grown naturally since then into what we call "electric nostalgia."
Television Skies is a cool name! How did it come to be?
It comes from a doors song called "my eyes have seen you" from the album strange days. The line goes "my eyes have seen you free from disguise gazing on a city under television skies." That idea of being seen without disguise, being completely real. It just captured everything we wanted our music to stand for.
Congratulations on the release of your new single "Time of My Life". Can you share the story of how you created this single and what you hope listeners end up taking away from it?
"Time of My Life" came during a period of big changes. It's about those moments when you're facing the unknown and realizing that maybe that's okay. when people listen to it, I hope they feel less alone in their own moments of uncertainty, maybe find some comfort in knowing we're all figuring it out together.
Your newest single "Time of My Life" is about learning to be ok with uncertainty and pushing forward in hopes of a better future anyway. What advice would you give to someone who may be afraid of what the future holds especially these days?
I think it's important to let yourself feel everything. The fear, the uncertainty, all of it. write about it, make something from it, share it with people who get it. Being scared doesn't mean you're doing it wrong, it usually means you're doing something that matters.

On your most recent album "Fairytales and Demos for the Rockers and Romantics, the Heartbroken and the Hopeful" you have a song titled "Lovesick + Bleeding" that has a very similar atmosphere to 80s synth pop music. Could you tell us about what inspired you to create this sound? What is the story behind the lyrics?
We were messing around with these vintage synths in the studio one night, and something about that sound just clicked with the story we were trying to tell. It's about feeling disconnected but still trying to reach out, about finding your people when you feel most alone. The 80s vibe wasn't planned, but it ended up being the perfect way to capture that feeling.
We've heard that authenticity is an important part of your music. How does your music inspire others to be authentic to themselves?
We try to keep everything real in our music - the messy parts, the uncertain parts, all of it. I think when you're honest about your own story, it gives other people space to be honest about theirs. Music becomes this conversation where we can all be a little more ourselves.
In January of this year you played several shows that helped raise money for the people who were affected by the recent Los Angeles fires. Could you tell us a little bit about how you got involved? You are in NYC, were your events there or in LA?
Even though we're on the east coast, the music community feels like one big family. We played shows at bowery electric and out on long island, trying to help our west coast friends from across the country. sometimes distance doesn't matter when people need support.
You partnered with Sweet Relief and Letters Relief Charity. Can you tell us a little bit about these organizations and why you decided to work with them?
These organizations really get what musicians need in tough times. They turn community support into real help for artists who are struggling. It felt natural to work with them because they're making a direct impact in musicians' lives.

Are there any upcoming projects you are working on that we can look forward to?
We're working on this new album that feels different from anything we've done before. It'll hopefully be around 10-12 songs, including "Paralyzed," "Bacardi," "Summer Love," and "Angels", as well as “Time of My Life”. Each track tells its own story, but together they create something bigger. It's exciting to see it coming together.
It's been a rough few years, and we expect at least four more. How have you been staying positive?
Personally I find my peace in simple things — good music in the background, time with my cats Athena and Phebe, writing when everything else is quiet. But mostly it's this community we've built, people who understand what these songs are really about. That keeps me going.
What is your motto in life?
"Stay true, and free from disguise". It's about being real, being honest, creating without filters. We try to live by those words in everything we do with Television Skies.
