Christian Vit is a London-based actor who is not afraid to go hunting for new opportunities. He shoots for the stars with all endeavors and proves to be an industry chameleon while taking on each role. You may know him from the accredited and highly praised series "Game of Thrones." Best known as "GOT" for die-hard fans. Not only is Christian exceedingly talented in the acting department, but he is also a master of 4 languages, which demonstrates his proficiency on and off-screen. As a mere child growing up in Italy, Christian knew that acting was for him. As he got older, his path to stardom became clearer during one of his first official acting gigs in the Italian show named "Sotto Casa." Christian continues to be moving in the right direction today and hopes to become a more established actor soon. We do not doubt that! Christian is a well-versed man and has many hobbies such as food, wine, and exercise. Unquestionably, Christian is a beacon of motivation and hard work, especially with his heavy engagement in domestic abuse campaigns and assuming his role as ambassador for "Children with Cancer UK." Jejune had the honor of speaking with this articulate and passionate actor. In this interview, we discuss Christians' latest project “I’m Not In Love”, his numerous ways of giving back, and his journey as an actor. If you love Christian as much as we do, please continue reading below!

Where are you based?
I’m based in London but, COVID permitting, I usually travel a lot for work.

When did you realize you had an appreciation for acting? Was it something you always wanted to pursue?
When I was a kid I played in a few school recitals, and I enjoyed that a lot. But it was when I bumped into a movie set nearby the city of Vicenza, where I happened to be by chance — visiting with my parents, that I had my “revelation”. We arrived when the actors were performing a duel, and I remember that I had a very strong feeling of excitement mixed with joy and curiosity. I never experienced this feeling before, and I couldn’t explain it. That feeling stayed with me for days.

You speak four different languages, which is incredible. How has being a multilingual individual elevated your acting career?
Speaking different languages has certainly proved to be an asset for me in my acting career. Very often I’m offered roles according to my look, which is considered “exotic”. I can cover a wide range of different nationalities. I like to play with accents too, so I always try to make the characters I play interesting and unique, also from the way they speak.

You attended IULM University in Milan, what is a valuable lesson you learned career wise or personally?
I come from a very traditional family and they always wanted me to accomplish my studies. I chose IULM University as it was very innovative, and I was intrigued by the courses. During those years, I can say I forged my mind and my attitude understanding the importance of being prepared and learning how to be consistent, resilient, curious, determined and reliable. All these key factors have stayed with me since.

When you started your career, what was the moment you realized your hard work and dedication finally paid off and how did it feel? How was this monumental to your journey as an actor?
My very first acting experiences, which almost happened by chance, was when I relocated to Rome from Milan after making the decision to fully commit to my professional acting career, and I started to be aware of what was going on. I got a role in the Italian show named “Sotto Casa”. I had a very wordy scene to play. There is a moment in your career when you hope to transition from the phase “I wanna be an actor” to the phase “I am an actor”, and for me that was the one. I was given the chance to go through that transition, and it was quite a big test for me to understand if I was right with my gut feeling to pursuit such a career or if I was going to feel like a fish out of the water instead. I still remember it was a great moment of joy, acknowledgement, and self awareness, that I was getting on the right path.

You take on very diverse roles, which highlights your skill set. From Game Of Thrones to Holby City, what has been your favourite role as an actor?
To be honest, every role I play always has something special that stays with me, even when the filming is over. That said, there are, of course, characters that you, as an actor, have the chance to investigate more emotionally and you might develop a deeper connection with them. In my case, I have to say that Dr. Matteo Rossini in “Holby City” has been quite a journey for me acting wise. It was the first time I played in a long running TV show, and playing him for 44 episodes has definitely been a great experience. I learned a lot and I developed that special connection.

Were there any obstacles when taking a leap from Italian to British projects?
As soon as you start to get in a new market where you’re asked to perform in a different language the first thing you have to prove is, of course, that you can do that. When I arrived in London my English was already pretty decent, but I had to improve in terms of accent reduction. I met a great vocal coach and started to work very hard on my pronunciation. It was then I got the role as a regular in “Holby City” that I realized my English was fine.

Can you tell us a bit about your latest project “I’m Not In Love”?
“I’m not in Love” is a brilliant English comedy directed by Col Spector and played by a great cast. As many times in this industry, I had the chance to meet Col during a social event, organized by a common friend. We had a chat about his upcoming movie. A few days later he contacted me offering me the role of Shaun and, as soon as, I read the script I immediately said yes. The character was meant to be mysterious, naughty, and charming, how I could have possibly said no?

How do you prepare yourself to take on a character? How do you embody a character’s attributes?
I’ve been trained as a “method actor”, and I always try to get an emotional and deep connection with the characters I play. Nowadays your are not given much time to prepare though, so I developed my own technique to be quick and be the most compelling and effective as I can.

Alongside being a multilingual actor, you are also a multi talented one. You are a certified sommelier, what do you enjoy about the food and wine industry?
Since a young age I’ve been very fascinated by food, wine came later of course. When I was a kid I spent a lot of time with my grandma, and she is the one who got me into cooking. Apparently, It was a way to keep me busy as I was a vivacious cheeky monkey. Later on, I discovered food is also a proper form of art and manifestation of love. Everybody gets in a much better mood in front of a nice dish and a good glass of wine. Food brings people together and it’s a great moment of sharing.

Do you wish to pursue a deeper career as a sommelier? Or perhaps opening a restaurant or winery.
I attended the professional sommelier course mostly for my own enjoyment. The wine industry is incredibly interesting in so many aspects, and my grandpa used to make his own wine. During my last years in Rome I joined a group of entrepreneurs coming from different backgrounds and we founded a gourmet sandwich shop. Amongst all of us, I was the most knowledgeable one about food and wine, therefore I created the menu and the wine list. It was an interesting experience, but I like to consider that a parenthesis. Of course, it’s something that might turn up to be useful when playing a character in my acting career too.

You are very well rounded when it comes to hobbies! Can you share one?
Considering my passion for good food and good wine, I also have to keep an eye on my waistline in order to be in shape. When it comes to that, of course, regular exercising is crucial and mandatory. Besides getting myself to the gym as many times per week as I can, I love taking long walks in the nature. Especially during the pandemic. I have realized how soothing, relaxing and invigorating this activity is, and I made a hobby out of that. I love exploring new places.

Jejune and the earth thanks you for being invested in various organizations pertaining to preserving our world’s oceans and glaciers. What sparked your interest in supporting such causes?
Our planet’s preservation and protection is one of the most concerning and raising problems of our era, and we really need to act quickly and effectively in order to reverse the situation. Oceans and glaciers, of course, play a key role on our environment’s health. After meeting the “Water Smart Foundation” people, and learning more about their remarkable activities, I decided I wanted to be involved with them.

Not only are you environmentally conscious, but you are also tuned in to domestic and child abuse prevention/aid organizations. Why did you make it your duty to be a part of organizations such as these?
I’ve given my contribution to a campaign named “I draw a line” against violence towards women, and I supported the activities of “Innocence in danger”, another remarkable charity foundation that aims to heal abused children through the arts. There are so many organizations that work very hard to raise awareness and to protect the most vulnerable categories of our community and planet. For me, it’s important to give my personal contribution to those.

You recently became an ambassador for a charity called: “Children with Cancer UK”. What is your role as an ambassador?
Indeed, I’ve recently had the honour of becoming an ambassador of “Children with Cancer UK”. It’s such a great charity, whose vision is of a world where no child dies from cancer. Their mission is to improve survival rates and the quality of survival in young cancer patients, and to find ways to prevent cancer in the future. My role as an ambassador is helping to raise the profile of the charity supporting them on social media and attending some of the activities and the events they organize.

You are obviously very passionate about what you do, whether charity wise or acting, what do you wish to communicate to your audience in general?
Being an actor also means being exposed in many levels and not only work wise. Despite the fact, I’m a very reserved man when it comes to my private life, and I also believe in giving positive messages to the community. I think when you find yourself in the position of having an audience it’s a moral obligation to give and contribute in order to make the world a better place. This, of course, can be made through different actions, the ones I choose are supporting some very good causes, trying to inspire others, and being a decent human being.

What is a goal when it comes to ocean preservation or abuse prevention?
I think the main goal is to educate the community about the issue and to make the issue more aware and ready to acted responsibly towards, especially for the future generations.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Do you have any hopes for your acting career?
In five years I see myself more established as an actor and possibly with a family. My hopes for my career are that my journey has just started and that it will take me in many different places around the world to shoot amazing projects.

What is your life motto?
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”. I think this quote, by Norman Vincent Pale, is the one that best expresses my life motto. I don’t like small games and I’m not afraid of completion. I just need the best possible chances, and I’m not afraid to go hunting for them.
